NORWICH - The Chenango SPCA celebrated the holiday season with its first-ever Christmas Day event, welcoming the community to its shelter.
The Chenango SPCA will also be open on New Year’s Eve from noon to 7 p.m., today, offering an opportunity for visitors to adopt a pet and welcome a new companion for the New Year.
The Christmas day event drew an impressive turnout with residents coming together to spend time with the animals, to help spread holiday cheer and promote a sense of community.
“This holiday season, we launched a heartwarming new tradition by opening our doors on Christmas Day to the community. Understanding that the holidays can feel isolating for some, we invited families and individuals to join us in celebrating with our furry friends,” stated the SPCA.
“The turnout exceeded our expectations, with a parking lot full of visitors eager to connect with the animals and spread holiday cheer. Thanks to your generous donations, every animal in the shelter received extra Christmas gifts, including sturdy dog toys and crinkly fish toys for the cats, which they absolutely”
“Our team was delighted to see the joy this event brought to our shelter and community,” said representatives from the Chenango SPCA. “Because of its success, we’re exploring making this a yearly tradition and potentially expanding it to other holidays.”
The SPCA team expressed gratitude to donors and volunteers, emphasizing community contributions made the celebration possible.
For those interested in continuing to support the Chenango SPCA, the organization welcomes visitors during regular hours and encourages inquiries about volunteer opportunities.
“Your continued support helps make the holidays brighter for the animals in our care,” the SPCA said in a statement.
